An independent international media platform that challenges power, inspires change and builds leadership among groups underrepresented in the media.

When I started work on the openDemocracy project most of the discovery work was already completed. I stepped in at a later stage and focused on wireframing and UI design. It was challenging stepping in at such a late stage of the project, however I enjoyed the process of designing the UI for the multiple applications of the oD identity.

The previous website made it very easy for a user to get lost. The navigation was fiddly, confusing, and the UI was cluttered and frustrating to use. Having to make sense of the vast pool of data and content that oD had gathered in partner with Torchbox was also a challenge.

Interface Design

The goal was to create a platform that I would use everyday, to make it easy to access and engage with important international issues.

This project went live in July 2021. One of the key goals was to build an easy to use CMS for the LAW team so they could update the site frequently with important content and news.

Creating an experience for people to consume and share important independent media is something I’m very proud to have been a part of.
