openDemocracy is an independent global media platfrom that covers world affairs, ideas and culture. It seeks to challenge power and encourage democratic debate across the world.

When I started work on the openDemocracy project most of the discovery work was already completed. I stepped in at a later stage and focused on wireframing and UI design.

It was challenging stepping in at such a late stage of the project, however I enjoyed the process of designing the UI from the multiple applications of the oD identity. Having to make sense of the vast pool of data and content that oD had was also a challenge.
The previous website made it very easy for a user to get lost. The navigation was fiddly, confusing, and the UI was cluttered and frustrating to use. The goal was to create a platform that I would use everyday, to make it easy to access and engage with important worldwide issues.

Creating an experience for people to consume and share important independent media is something I’m very proud to have been a part of.
